Today I met a real live bundle of sparkles named Trinity. A quick glance and it’s clear she’s fun and exhausting and the joy of her parents’ lives. Miss Trinity prissed into the room where I was vision screening her class, wearing a pink velvet dress with pink & white polka dot tights and pink glitter ballet shoes. Is there any doubt she was Her Majesty The Line Leader? The ultimate pre-k honor. She led in her subjects, stopped them in front of me and announced: “Hellooo Lady! My name is…T r i n i t y A l a i n a W i l l i a m s.” She could’ve added, “I’ll soon replace Oprah as the Queen of Everything.” 900 pink & white beaded braids were clicking as she called out the shapes on the vision chart…”Well that looks like a little dollhouse. Hmmm, that circle looks like a little hole or maybe it’s a wheel. That looks like a heart but I’d rather call it an apple.” Woe be unto ye who tries to rein her in, Trinity’s reign has just begun.
I finished her test and put a big green sticker on her jumper (so wish I’d had a pink sticker), then she smiled and said, “I know you’re glad to see me.” How I wish I could bottle those sparkles…
Planning on a charitable donation before 1/1/10? Consider Prevent Blindness, it’s an amazing organization that helps preserve vision in children and adults.
