Atlanta-based Babycees is a family business run by artist Tom Sapp and his wife Chief Everything Else Officer Melanie. Youngest daughter Emma named the business and big sister Sarah Grace has suggested many illustration ideas to her dad. The entire Sapp family packages your order, pitches in on promotional efforts and works on the details of the business. Even family pup Tex and tiny tabby cat Piper provide inspiration!
The Sapp family’s goal is to delight every customer. Babycees aims to create artwork that will bring smiles to each parent’s face and create wonder in the eyes of each child.

Meet the Babycees Artist, Tom Sapp
The Babycees Name Art creator is Tom Sapp, a talented guy who has spent his life creating stories through print ads, TV commercials, illustrations, and mascots. He began his creative career as an award-winning advertising art director, cranking out ads, logos and commercials for corporate America. But he always knew there was more fun to be had … ads were only part of his story.
Tom hand-painted names for friends’ kids — and when others saw the art, requests came pouring in. One day Tom realized he’d designed enough characters for a full alphabet 7 times over, so he found a way to translate his designs to digital art without sacrificing the craft or personalization. Babycees Name Art was born! Each piece is printed on high-quality archival paper and is framed as a treasured keepsake. Customers say Babycees Name Art is the only shower gift they give!
Real Characters studio is an arm of Tom’s business specializing in character & mascot design. In 1980, Tom created a mascot for his alma mater, the University of Georgia. Hairy Dawg became wildly popular, and more schools called, impressed that his characters are much more than just furry costumes. He’s designed some of America’s most popular mascots, 120 to date. Some are in the Mascot Hall of Fame, and each year, Tom’s mascots vie to be #1 mascot in the Capital One Bowl on ESPN.
Tom says what he loves most about being an artist is seeing faces light up when they see his creations.

Through Tom’s eyes, the curve of a cat’s tail becomes the letter B and a slice out of pizza becomes a Q.
Tom has a knack for seeing beyond the norm and turns his special gift into the beautiful, whimsical illustrations that are Babycees Name Art.
